This time around I'm demonstrating two products: my beloved GRiP plus Battlegrounds - RPG Edition, an excellent battle map program.
Pre-Install:To Install the Battlegrounds - RPG Edition client:
- Unzip the two files to a temporary directory of your choice.
- Run setup.exe to create the directories and links GRiP needs to run.
- Run update_setup.exe to make your edition of the Player's module compatable with my GM's module.
To Install the freeware GRiP Player's client:
- Unzip these two files to a temporary directory of your choice.
- Run setup.exe to create the directories and links GRiP needs to run.
- Run update_setup.exe to make your edition of the Player's module compatable with my GM's module.
Test: I am available at various IMs to test your installation prior to the demo. If you'd like to get a head start on the tutorial, or look at items we don't get to, see the tutorials at FUM's GRiP forum
FUDGE: I use Rob Donoghue's Fudge on the Fly system for my demos and pickup games, but have included a few regular FUDGE characters in the character sheet downloads. If on-the-fly doesn't work for you, feel free to use one of the others or bring a Five Point Fudge character of your own.|

An introduction to GRiP's internet player (iPC) module. We'll be looking at how to use the client software, how to use interactive character sheets and some simple examples of play. We won't be looking at how to code character sheets nor how to use the GM's server module (iGM). Since GRiP is rules-neutral, I'm going to use FUDGE rules for their utter simplicity. If you have selected a StarMan character sheet, our story takes place on an isolated world said to be ruled by psionic 'wizards'. Pre-Install: You need to have the GRiP Player's client (iPC) installed and to have tested your connectivity before you'll be able to participate in the demo. Unless your machine is behind a firewall it's pretty much load and go, however. |

Note that the good folks at Battlegrounds Games have given us all a full evaluation license during the con, so Player clients and unlicensed demos will both be considered full-featured GM Clients for the weekend.If you set up a demo version before the free access period starts, it will timeout after 45 minutes. This is more than enough time to test your connection and play with the controls a bit. |

A request for mercs to clear out a monster the locals have been having no luck with has reached the isolated starport of their backward and rarely visited world. The village elders are desperate enough to waive their usual bias against 'star men' should any wish to apply. Character Creation: 5 pt Fudge, or use one of the pregen characters from last year's demo. |
2. A 3-Jump Tour Sun. April 12 6pm GMT/2pm EDT |
The PCs are the passengers and crew of a refurbished tramp freighter offering special escorted tours of two nearby star systems for one all-inclusive price.
