Here are the files you will need to participate in the demos or to play in my games. Note that iPC, the player module, is freeware and needs an update to be compatible with my GM's server.

Game files   |   Fudge Character Sheets   |   Traveller Character Sheets

To Install the freeware GRiP Player's client:

  1. Unzip the two files to a temporary directory of your choice.
  2. Run setup.exe to create the directories and links GRiP needs to run.
  3. Run update_setup.exe to make your edition of the Player's module compatable with my GM's module.

Pre-Install: You need to have iPC (freeware) installed and to have tested your connectivity before you'll be able to participate in the demo, see the tutorials at FUM's GRiP forum for more info. I am available at various IMs to test your installation prior to the demo. Unless your machine is behind a firewall it's pretty much load and go.

The Demos:
Sat. March 22 & 23
9pm GMT/5pm EDT
An introduction to GRiP's internet player (iPC) module. We'll be looking at how to use the client software, how to use interactive character sheets and some simple examples of play. We won't be looking at how to code character sheets nor how to use the GM's server module (iGM).
Since GRiP is rules-neutral, I'm going to use FUDGE rules for their utter simplicity and place our 'story' on an isolated world said to be ruled by psionic 'wizards'. This allows locals to have heard of "star men", but have no real idea of what their magical capabilities may be. It also lets us mix in pretty much any genre someone has a character sheet and griplets for.

The Games:

1. Gumdrops
Sat. March 29
3pm GMT/11am EDT
A request for mercs to clear out a monster the locals have been having no luck with has reached the isolated starport of their backward and rarely visited world. The village elders are desperate enough to waive their usual bias against 'star men' should any wish to apply.
Character Creation: 5 pt Fudge, or use one of the pregen characters from the demo.

2. Stayin' Alive
Sat. March 30
9pm GMT/5pm EDT

The PCs are crewing an old and poorly maintained Firefly class free trader in the Spinward Marches sector of the Imperium. The Princess Buttercup has fallen on hard times and you had to skimp on her last two annual maintenances. But salvation is at hand .. riiiight!
Other Details: For Firefly fans, note that this ship is the obsolete model one and thus quite a bit older than Serenity. Experience with Traveller isn't needed, but a passing acquaintance with the gaming client is -- if you're new to GRiP, take one of the demos before the game.
