So what is G.R.i.P.?
The Generic Role-playing for Internet Players system is a set of personal gaming apps which bring you all of the basic tools required to conduct a typical face-to-face role-playing session, and combines them with the power of the internet to let you play any RPG with anyone with internet access, anywhere in the world. The GM's portion of the suite, iGM, is shareware from QuikLink Interactive, while iPC, the Player's module, is freeware.

A character sheet for this adventure is provided below. Since that one comes with my custom die rolling code I naturally favour it, but feel free to use the Classic Traveller character sheet which comes with GRiP or Capt. Ron's excellent CT sheet from his Hefry Starport campaign. Ron also provides some very useful griplets (weapons and equipment) on his website which work with any of these character sheets. My own griplets are based on his but will prompt for applicable DMs. If you are using some other skill-testing griplet then the DM will have to be applied after you roll. Big hairy deal <smile>.

None of these tools, other than iPC are absolutely required for the campaign, especially since I can provide character sheets and will be reviewing ones you produce yourselves.

What is a Cetus-class?
The Cetus class subsidized merchant was Gordon Horne's submission to the now defunct Deckplans Contest #1. A streamlined water lander for service to low tech and underdeveloped worlds, it can still be found at the Deckplate Challenge website. At the moment I am using his work without permission, but I hope to change that shortly.

Blackfish is a Cetus class starship with the following modifications:

  • The drives have been pulled together onto the top deck,
  • The bridge has been moved down to the crew deck,
  • The passenger, now troop, section has been moved down to the bottom deck, and
  • Four (4) turrets have been added to give some defensive capability.

Where the Heck Are We?
Blackfish
is currently at Goria (B/1410) in Trojan Reach sector.

Odds and Ends:
Being bits and pieces used in the campaign which didn't fit anywhere else. Here's where you can pick up

  • My minor revision of Capt. Ron's Classic Traveller Character Sheet (I added a Notes tab for those little memos most Players accumulate). 30KB, freeware
  • My WeaponSkills template griplet 5KB, freeware
  • The corresponding Non-WeaponSkills griplet 3KB, freeware
  • For those having difficulty finding them at QLI, here are iPC (5 MB freeware) and iGM (7.5 MB shareware). iGM, needed only by GMs, is the complete suite while iPC is the freeware Player's modules only. The iGM's module times out after 30 days if you do not register, the PC modules never timeout.
  • Randy Tyler's deckplans for Aba-adakkur, a 1000-ton Tukera long-liner, done up as an adventure file. Used with permission - 346KB, see copyright notice for restrictions.
